This weekend was a blast. Sarah and I drove down to Anaheim on Thursday and got there around dinner time. It took 6 hours and was pretty uneventful. We checked into our hotel, half a black from Disneyland and tried to decide where to eat. Sarah had been to Joe's Crab Shack (http://www.joescrabshack.com/) before, so we decided to eat there. It was about a 30 min wait, but it was cool. I ordered a Shark Bite to drink. YUM!! Which included a very loud announcement to the entire restaurant when she poured the shot of grenadine in. And then there were the synchronized dancing staff. Strange but fun place. We ended the night by laughing our asses off catching up on the last month of Fail Blog, Cake Wrecks and Engrish Funny.
Friday we went to Disneyland and California Adventure. The place was still decked out for the holidays so it was really pretty. It was overcast all day long however, but it was ok. We did all the usual cool rides and took a ton of pics. Luckily we got a few fast passes in because the place was packed. We even wanted to check out the newly revamped "It's a Small World" but the line was insane. Plus, after 14 hours, our feet were killing us. So we headed out around 11:30pm I think and went back to the hotel to crash.
Saturday we got up and checked out. We went next door to Mimi's Café for lunch before heading to L.A.. Then we had an easy drive to downtown and got to the hotel (Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown) around 2pm. We had to park in the parking garage of the attached mall (odd) and even wheel our suitcases through part of the ground floor of the mall to get to the lobby (even odder). But the hotel was beautiful and our friend Brandy got us her super employee rate. All of our Arena friends started arriving slowly but surely from the Bay Area, San Diego, Palm Springs and even Las Vegas. And we had 7 rooms and each one was on a different floor (off that none of us could get on the same floor, but wasn't a big deal). The wait for a table at restaurants next to Staples was insane, so we just ate at the Arena. The game was cool, but 3 of us Sharks fans who sat next to each other (Sarah, Joan and I), we were just enjoying the whole experience more than just paying attention to the game (since it was a Kings/Flyers game). We had a fun time. Afterwards we all went back to the hotel and had some drinks and many laughs up in Chris's room. He had a corner room on the 24th floor with the best view. We ended the party around 3:30am.
Then Sunday we all checked out at Noon and everyone except Mike, Ginger, Brandy and Matt went to IHOP for breakfast/lunch before we all parted ways. Then we left town and Sarah and I met Joan at Sonic near Bakersfield just because I had never been to one before. There was some traffic on the way home, and after dropping Sarah off, I finally got home near 10pm. Long day, but I also just uploaded a ton of pics, so check them out.
(Side note: I knew my cousin was proposing to his girlfriend Savannah Friday night while I was at Disneyland, and my Aunt told me she would call or text me once she got word. But instead I got a text from the newly engaged herself while waiting in line for Space Mountain. It read, "I said YES!". I was super excited to welcome her officially to the family.)
