Babies from Serbia...

I dreamed last night that all of a sudden there were about 20 orphans from Serbia at my Dad's house. We had to take care of them, and I think they all had AIDS. I remember dressing them, and they were too big for the smallest onsies, so we had to run around looking for bigger ones. We were feeding them, and finding places for them to sleep. I never really got what we were doing with them, or what the goal was (to find them homes, etc). But I remember spending a lot of time with them, and we also had to give them medication. I just remember having a great nurturing feeling about the dream.

Vivid dreams

Every night as I lay down to go to sleep, I get these split second snapshots of the dreams I had the night before. Not enough to evoke whole scenes or the theme, but enough to make me lay there and try my hardest to remember what it was about. And that is every single night. I think it’s kind of fascinating how our brains work like that. But also drives me nuts when I can’t remember the dream.

Then, last night I was having a great dream, and remembered it when I woke up. I had to get up and take a phone call… long enough to forget what I was dreaming about. When I went to lay down again, I was trying really hard to continue the dream where I left off.

Am I the only one this happens to?

Another random dream last night...

I was at my friend’s house in the Bay Area, and we were hanging in a back family room. There was all of a sudden a roar in the air. Kinda like when it’s stormy and planes fly at lower altitude, only louder. Then I started noticing the clouds were swirling and not looking quite right. Then a tornado emerged. We all freaked out. I ran toward the center of the house to a doorway. I sat on the floor in the doorway and wrapped my arms and legs around the wall. Then the house gets picked up and we started spinning. I remember feeling a little dizzy.

Then all of a sudden we stopped. We looked outside and the house had landed in the middle of some street. I remember having an iPad, or similar device, and looked up where we were on the GPS. We ended up in some small town East of Reno in the middle of Nevada. No one seemed too phased by a house landing on their street, which led me to believe that the tornado went through this town too. We started wandering around a bit. Then people started setting up booths selling T-shirts and what not. I remember complaining that people were trying to capitalize on a natural disaster. We wandered back to the house to find about 12 people dressed like hippies had taken over the property. It was like something out of the show ‘The Colony’ where they were protecting a property for themselves during a disaster. I just remember thinking that I hadn’t even grabbed my purse on the way out the door. I wandered around town a little more, but that’s all I remember.

Restaurant and Mansion Dream

I was staying at a friend’s house, and was woken up by her babysitter (who I had never met) telling me that she had to leave for a while and I had to watch the kids. Well there were about 5 kids, not all my friend's, that ranged in age from about 2-6. So I had to get up and watch these very active kids. They were running around doing every craft imaginable, eating all sorts of things, and making a big mess.

I ended up out on the street in from of this pub sort of restaurant. Turns out it is owned by my old friend Andrea. I was chatting with a few people out front about the fact that there was a power outage on this and a few other blocks. One of the girls was also telling me that a couple of blocks up was this gas station that in this movie we all knew (which I think wasn’t a real movie I’ve seen in reality), the main character proposed to the other main character. I thought that was cool and wanted to see it, but never did.

We ended up inside the restaurant and the place was filling up with customers. They all knew there was a power outage and that we weren’t officially opening until the power came back on. But guess they were alerted that it was going to be soon, and they started getting antsy. I wasn’t really there to work, I was just a friend of the owners and was visiting or something. But there seemed to be a lot of employees running in and out of the kitchen like chickens with their heads cut off. They were trying to get things prepped, but were still waiting to get the power back so they could start cooking and stuff. Then Andrea’s Mom showed up and was trying to calm everyone down. I think she managed the place. I never did see what happened there.

I was suddenly back at my friend’s house. Not her real life house, but this made up, beautiful mansion. It was this very modern, white mansion with all clean square lines. There was a large pool outside the large plate glass windows out front. But there were also sprawling grounds with manicured lawns, another huge pool away from the house and a hot tub that could seat about 20 people. There were lots of people coming and going, some I knew, and some I didn’t. There was apparently going to be some huge party there that night. My old co-worker Jason, and his wife were there. And also a bunch of old college friends, like Adam and Bill. This group of friends and I were chatting in this one room for a long time, and they kept trying to point out to me people I may know. People were still coming and going, as I got the vibe that any and all people were welcome there and people just showed up whenever to hang out. At one point this very beautiful and shapely woman walked by the window and Adam ogled her. I jokingly asked if he was still married, and he held up his hand to show his wedding ring. Then he jokingly said, “I can still look.”. At one point I was out front just watching a handful of people heading down to the larger pool and hot tub further away from the house, and just had to ask someone for clarification, “Exactly whose house is this?” and they confirmed, Jennifer. How I didn’t know that since I was staying there, I’m not sure. Then I basically headed up the large staircase to the room I was staying in, to get ready for the party.

Then I woke up. I didn’t get to see how the party turned out.

Orlando Bloom dream... odd.

I was starting a new college and was moving into a dorm. It was a large campus, like a small town. I was hanging in this room with this guy. He was going to show me around and to my room, but we weren’t ready yet, so we were just hanging out and chatting. And there were a few other people in the room having their own conversations.

Then this girl comes in, who I think is the gf of the guy. She said she just got home from L.A. and I said that I did too. Then I told her I was there for a hockey game, and she then told me she loved hockey. What are the odds? So that was cool, I was making a new friend.

Then randomly, Orlando Bloom shows up with some sort of crazy automatic gun of some sort. They had these weird bullets that were huge, and had little metal doors on them that opened. Not sure why. He started shooting the gun through the room, not aiming at anyone, but causing big explosions. It didn’t seem to faze anyone, so he did it a couple of times.

Soon after we started hearing aircraft and everyone started scattering. I looked kinda baffled, so the guy I was chatting with said, “It’s a bi-plane, so it must be serious.” So I ran too. It was like the whole campus was running and screaming, and I looked up and saw a bi-plane and a helicopter. And I kinda wondered why everyone was running, because I think they knew about the shooting and were going after Orlando Bloom. But I ran anyway. Soon we saw a long limo zipping by with flags on it, as if it carried someone really important. I tried climbing up some stairs in one of the building, but it was as if the building was warped and I couldn’t squeeze up it.

- And then I woke up. I hate when that happens and I don’t find out what happened. Plus, what’s up with Orlando Bloom in my dream? I couldn’t even tell you how long it’s been since I’ve seen him act in something. Wasn’t on my radar. Very strange.

Another crazy dream

Last night I had another crazy and vivid dream. I was in my town visiting with some people, and when I went to leave, my car wouldn't start. So I called AAA for a tow truck. But within 10 mins or so, a helicopter landed on the street to pick my friend and I up instead. I found this rather odd. As we were flying over my town, I started noticing many buildings on fire and a ton of black smoke pluming into the air. I commented on this, but no one seemed phased.

My town has an old Naval Air Station at one end of town. It is used by some other businesses now, but still has a ton of open land. Once we landed over there, I looked back toward the city and it was more full of flames than ever. I yelled to everyone to gather what they could and head toward the water. There were some houses there that were abandoned and had no doors or windows, but we used them as shelter. I had my camera with me (as I always do in life) and a chain about 3' long with a snap hook on each end. I had the camera in one front pocket, then took the snap hook from one end of the chain and put it around a belt loop, then the chain filled up the rest of my other pocket.

We then heard a loud explosion from the city and a tsunami resulted from it. The waves were at least 30'-40' high and completely engulfed the houses we were in. I had handed the other end of the chain to my friend before this happened so we wouldn't get separated. So we swam out of a window and up to the surface. The water seemed to quickly subside. We knew we had to move on to a new location. But instead of just walking somewhere nearby, we seemed all of a sudden transported to a tropical locale. We were standing in a lush rain forest at the top of a very tall and beautiful waterfall. I remember taking some pictures, thinking if my camera survived this, then at least part of this journey would be documented.

But the explosions and tsunamis followed us where ever we went, so this was some sort of global event that was taking place. I never saw people attacking, or planes flying over, but I knew it was some sort of war situation. We found more houses to hide in, only to be forced out all over again by the waves. I remember thinking that my chain was a great resource to have and helped keep my friend and I together.

And like most of my dreams, I woke up before it ended. I actually tried to go back to sleep to see how things turned out, but didn't happen. It was very real and vivid though. Maybe that's what I get for watching 'The Colony' before bed.

Dream... Cheechoo and a work camp

I had 2 dreams last night at the completely opposite end of the spectrum from each other.

The first, I was apparently dating Cheechoo (don’t get jealous ladies). I don’t remember much of the dream except that we were at some amusement park for one part of our date. Then we ended up at some really high end restaurant, where the chef kept bringing us tastings of the food. I remember looking at the menu and it was really pricey, and even Cheech raised an eyebrow at the $40ish entrees. But we had an amazing meal with appetizers, entrees, wine and dessert. I felt bad it cost so much and offered to go dutch, but he wouldn’t let me. I was never one of the ones to pine for Cheech (so not sure why I dreamed about him) but he did look rather hot in my dream :-)

The second dream had me waking up with my heart racing. I was walking past barbed wire into some kind of work camp. I saw people dirty and in pens like you would see animals in at a farm. I had to walk with a line of people over these back to back ladder like things hovering like a bridge over water. I slipped and the last ladder came loose and fell into the water. The guard watching screamed at me as I apologized over and over. We kept going and we ended up inside and I saw a room that looked like it was framed out of bamboo and just had tarps over it. A bunch of people were inside wearing those old style military helmets watching something on a screen on the wall. Then there were bomb sounds and orange glowing lights just to make people scared. Inside were a bunch of offices, it looked like, and I just kept looking for a way out. I ended up outside back where those pens were and hiding under some tarp lying on the ground. I remember being muddy and wet and only one girl saw me go under there and was going to keep quiet. But eventually there was this lady guard that found me, and was sort of being nice by explaining what I was in for. She said the women were passed from guard to guard and then their fate is unknown. I was freaking out. Then I woke up just very uneasy and jittery.

Dream... The Amazing Race

Last night I dreamed that I was a contestant on The Amazing Race. My partner was a 40 something woman I didn’t know, which was odd. (That might make for an interesting season, to pair people with people they don't know.) And almost all the pairs are over 40-50 year old people. The game hadn't officially started yet. It was like a period of time before the game starts where they go over the rules, production, etc. At one point we were all gathering in a room with big round tables, and we had to dismantle tables from the walls in a contest. Maybe just getting us hyped up or something. And at one point one person from each pair had to go into a body of water and collect lobsters. My partner did this. This is all I can remember right now though.

Dream... fireworks, storms, beach, diapers...

So, I have no idea where I was except in some fancy beach area with a lot of hotels and stuff. I went with some friends and we checked into our room. And it was some big festive holiday like 4th of July, Mardi Gras or New Years. I'm leaning toward the 4th of July. Somehow my friends and I got separated, and cell service must have sucked there because I was never able to get a hold of them. And for some reason I wasn't able to remember exactly which room number was ours, or who's name it was under to check. I had a room key (those plasic ones) but it had no number on it.

So I decided that I should at least go down to the beach and enjoy the festivities while looking for my friends. It was probably late afternoon, early evening at this point. It was a very large beach, and several resort people were walking around getting things set up for games. I watched them set up rows of those little traffic cones in the sand for some relay races. I kept wandering and went inside some building (hotel or mall) and they had a bar in there. It had huge, maybe 15 foot stucco walls around it, with a cut out where you order. On the outside of one of the walls was painted with the names of about 50 mixed drinks that you could order. Impressive. I was going to order one, but had to run to the bathroom first. There was this other woman looking for the bathroom as well, so we started looking together. They weren't marked well. We ended up finding one, which was disgusting. There was a girl in there who noticed our disgust and bent over and said "That's why I have this". and we saw a diaper poking out of her underwear. OK, strange. But we went on our way to find another.

At one point I must have told this woman about not being able to find my friends, so she said I could crash later with her and her friends in their room if I needed. We headed up there so I could see where it was. There were probably 8 guys and girls up there just laying around like they were exhausted. So I did too. A last minute rest before the festivities. I remember thinking, as I looked over the balcony at the beach, about how crowded the beach was getting. If I had a chance to find my friends, it would have been earlier when things were getting set up and it wasn't so crowded, so I gave up the idea.

We headed back down to the beach, and somehow stumbled upon a group of people I went to high school with. I ended up talking to this one guy for quite a while on the beach. Don't remember what about. A bunch of us from both groups ended up going to a different hotel room that someone said would be perfect for watching the fireworks from. We get there and it has this part that is like a large box sitting off the side of the room. All 3 walls and the ceiling were nothing but floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beach. There was also a small, but busy, airport next to the hotel on one side. We kept watching small planes and helicopters take off and land. It was getting dark at this point, so all the runway lights and stuff made it pretty to look at.

We then noticed a storm brewing and coming towards us. It was going to pass directly over us, so we were a little freaked being in a glass room. As is got closer the rain started pelting the windows and the room shook a bit. Then it approached faster and then it was all of a sudden like we were in the eye of a hurricane or tornado. It was something kind of like Twister. We were all looking straight up at the inside of it and could see some clear sky all the way at the top, and a funnel cloud inside. It was a trip, but scary at the same time. It passed quickly though, and in time for the fireworks. The show was amazing, like every moment was the finale. I kept think about how much money they must have spent on this display. It was awesome, and glad I had the view I did.

I'm not sure how the evening ended, and I don't think I ever found my friends. But it was an interesting night.

My dream last night... snow, boats, old classmates

And the weird dreams keep coming.

I was in a very large room, like a hangar, which had water in it like a frozen over pond. There were boats tied up all around the edges of the room, kind of dinghy to speed boat sized. There were moments I was on top of the water with snow. Then there were other moments I remember being in the water with the dinghy upside down on top of me using it like a flotation device, and just hanging out out talking to people. There seemed to be lot's of random people coming in on their boats and hanging out. They were asking me random question like I was in the education field, etc, just making small talk.

I remember seeing a couple out groups of people walking on the ice towards an area where I know the ice is broken. At the last minute a few of us call out to warn them, but they fall in the water. LOL. 2 guys were in full suits too.

As time went on, the room started having more of a nightclub vibe to it. And some random guy grabbed me to give me a hug. It was dark in there, but I recognized some people and asked if they were Piedmonters. And they were. Turned out to be a bunch of people I went to high school with. Random encounter. And that's all I remember.

My Dream Sunday night…

I was with some friends, looking across the Bay at San Francisco. Then all of a sudden I spotted part of the city catch on fire and pointed it out. Then the whole place erupted in flames. It turned out to be an underwater volcano eruption. And then it flowed into the Bay. I didn’t really notice until later when my friends said they could walk across the water. It was basically as if the lava filled in the Bay, and there was about a foot of water on top, so you could walk from Oakland to San Francisco. But by the time we got to SF, the land was too hot to touch, so we returned. We seemed to have been “camping” in what would be a sort of rock star tour bus. There were several bedrooms and bathrooms. But we still hung out outside with a campfire and stuff.

I’m not clear on this part, but I remember a house I was in, and a part of it was collapsing because the lava was reaching us from underground. And remember packing frantically, and had Nala put in one of the bedrooms so that she was safe and not underfoot. So we were actually packing up one of those 10 passenger vans with all of our stuff and I wondered how it would all fit. But it did. We left initially without Nala, then I made them go back to get her.

At this point, the lava/fires were starting on our side of the Bay. They were anywhere from 5+ feet away from us. We would drive and see the brush burning right at the side of the van. And would also see fires burning in the hills. I remember getting my camera out to take some pictures, but my vantage point wasn’t the greatest. We ended up having to turn around because the way we were going was too dangerous.

And that’s about the last thing I remember. Wish I had thought to blog this earlier today, as I may had remembered more details. Anyway, the newest saga from my brain. And no, I haven’t watched any natural disaster movies lately ;-)

Dream... about being in Iraq...

"I was in Iraq for some reason. And it was more forest like rather than desert. While I was there, there was some sort of uprising and a group of American's sided with the Iraqis and were against us. Myself and the people I was with were basically running for our lives. We had to sneak through forests, down strange paths, through marshes, etc, to try to avoid these people. All the while hearing gunfire and seeing people shot around us. We even ended up in some abandoned house with two abandoned dogs, until we were found out and had to run.

Then cut to me getting to some sort of refugee camp where they were evacuating people. The people were put in groups of people for each flight. One bus was leaving as I got there... and I kind of had an aerial view of their travel. The bus was going like a bat out of hell through the streets, avoiding cars and people, to get to the airport. Then two men with guns were running from a building taking about talking hostages. But, when they got to the airport, there was some sort of UN or Embassy escort and they were safe from there.

Back in my reality, I was sitting in the second group (to fill a plane and leave) at the airport. I saw someone get up and leave from the first group so went up to the front to see if I could get bumped up. And they checked my paperwork and said yes. At this point my Grandma was with me and she said she was feeling like she had low blood sugar, so went to a medic and thought she would miss the flight. I went up to the front to chat with the people about it in case she missed the flight, and Christian Slater (must be from watching 'The Forgotten' lately) was one of the guys working up front there now. But she was ok and back in time. Then my Mom and Aunt were there, and a couple of groups behind us, so chatted with them for a few.

My group ended up getting shuffled to the terminal and though security. I had to give up my 3 water bottles. I thought I was going to be able to buy one by the terminal but the shops were closed, and I only had US dollars too. When we got there, we received our boarding passes, and saw for the first time that we were flying from Iraq to Brazil to the States. And found out my Mom and Aunt were flying through Germany, and then home."

That's all I remember. I knew when I woke up for the first time I should have gotten up to write it down. By the time I got up, that's what I remember. And no, I didn't watch a war movie before bed. Strange how the mind works.

I dreamed of flying...

Ever since I was little, people around me said that everyone dreams they are flying at one point or another. And until last night I never had... at least not that I remember. But in my dream last night I was in this area of rolling hills and was with a group of people. I think it was some amateur film/acting scenario because at one point I was holding a video camera. But we ended up on this very high plateau and were filming up there. I remember looking down over the edge at some point and was kind of freaked out because it was a long way down. I'm not afraid of heights, in real life or my dream, but the cliff was so drastic that I was afraid I'd fall off.

But then at some point I ended up with some sort of wings attached to my back and had grips to hold onto. I never really had a good look at the device, but remember it being on the small side. Not anything like a hang glider. And with this device I just stepped off the edge and soared. I was really high up as the wind kept carrying me. I could see my friends on that plateau looking like ants. and I just flew above all the rolling hills and it was beautiful. I remember having a nervous excited feeling as I was up there, but I was having too much fun. Then my fear was how to get down without crashing. I made my way down slowly, but at the end I landed a little abruptly, but I was ok. It was a lot of fun.

Now I know I personally wasn't flying myself, and was using a contraptions. So not sure if that counts for a "flying dream". But It was technically the first one where I was soaring high above the land. Too cool!!

Another dream

So this may be short since it’s all I remember. But I was at my Mom’s house and in my Step-Dad’s office. Although I wasn’t sitting at a desk, I was sitting at a short table while sitting in a bean bag chair. Strange, I know. I don’t even own a bean bag chair. But anyway… I was on the phone with one of the old Regional or District Managers from when I worked at Discovery Channel. I was helping her out with her PC/laptop. It was as if it was summer and we were getting it ready for the beginning of school or something. Because I remember telling her we’ll have it all ready in time and not to worry. Even if in reality, we were a year round business. But the discussion turned a little to chit chat and for some reason she mentioned that it had been forever since she had sat in a bean bag chair. And we both had a good laugh when I told her I was sitting in one.

At that time I heard a car door close outside so I peeked out the window and saw my friend Heather. She was wearing the bridesmaid dress I wore to her wedding, and had her dog Lea with her, on a leash. So I was still on the phone when she rang the doorbell. So I ran downstairs to answer it and let her in, and mentioned who I was on the phone with since she worked with her too. So I hurriedly got off the phone as the dogs were sniffing each other, since they have never met. Then Heather pointed out to me that my dog had had an accident in the dining room, which she never does. And then I woke up. So I never did find out what she was doing over there, with her dog, and especially in a bridesmaid dress from her own wedding.

A dream I had last night...

In my dream, I received a voicemail from one of my oldest friends while out and about. It was kind of vague, but she said something about her Dad had a project he was working on, and needed some help. He knew I was available, and wanted to see if I could come help him for 2 weeks. He lives in Maryland, and I in California. Well… jump in time, I am in D.C. at his business which is a massive corporate building. He was telling me stuff about needing to package up soil samples that were going to be shipped off and other things I needed to do. They had a very large staff there and each person was classified by a number. Then went by name, but this was sort of a mark of level of intelligence and experience. And they wore these numbers on their shirts, which were brown and black. The guy he introduced me to, Michael, was a number 396. I didn’t get it fully explained to me, but one thing I remember was that he was in a group that could complete a Rubik’s Cube in a certain amount of time. There were two 396 people and the other was a woman. These were the two I would be working closest with. And I remember Michael having dark hair and was really good looking. And he had a girlfriend, who happened to be around, and she was bitching and complaining about the work he had to do. I would have been fine if he wanted to break up with her ;-)

Then sort of unrelated to the work I was there to do, the dream sort of turned into a fight scene. I was standing near the door to leave the building, and a ton of people were running to flee. They were employees with numbers on their shirts as well, but their shirts were more of a rust color. I’m not sure who they were, except the “bad guys”. Me and a few other people seemed to get crazy strength, and were able to hit and knock down a ton of them before they hit the door. I was even able to flip one person over and throw them at the feet of another, and knocked him down in kind of a bowling ball effect.

Well, that’s pretty much what I remember, and have no clue what it means. I do tend to have vivid dreams every once in a while. Random.

And the 396 shirt looked like this:
